I will admit I am scared as hell, but so excited at the same time.
Pray for me.

Things I will miss
I will miss buying a huge bucket of popcorn at the movies.
I will miss onion rings.
I will miss diet coke (I already do! I have been off it for 3 weeks)
I will miss big mac's.
I will miss thickshakes.
I will miss going out and having a huge dinner with Donald.
I will miss eating whatever I want.
I will miss a lot of things (food) but I know it is worth my health.

Almost there
3 days to go.
I am feeling the stress they were talking about. I feel like I have to get everything done before i go in. I am scared that something will happen during the op, and I will die (I dont think about that too much)
I am elated, and scared. It is really hard to describe what and how I am feeling, it is werid. I want Tuesday to be here now , but in another, I can wait, forever.
I am also worried that I wont lose the weight, and this has just been a massive waste of time, and a huge wasteof money. I know from reading all of the profiles at the Obesity Help.com
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/surgtype-forums/LapBand/posts.html
That it is very unlikley that I will lose no weight, but still I am scared.
I have to lose, to be healthy, 45kg. I hope that I can do that within the next year. I pray that I can do it.
I have been praying a fair bit of late. I pray that I will come through the surgery ok, and I pray that if I don't, that Donald will have the strength to look after Joseph, and himself.
I pray that I will have the strength to do what I have to to lose the weight, and become a healthy person again.
If you pray - please pray for me.

5 Days to go
Its days like today that make me wonder why I bothered sharing my experience.
I am trying hard to ignore the shit stirrers, but damm, there are so many of them,
And no matter how often you say "Its not bypass, but lapband" they don't listen. They just go on and on about the "dangers" of WLS.
Honestly, LapBand is safer than breast implants. I would love to see people preach about the dangers to a woman with implants.

8 days, 1 hour till My surgery date
I am finally getting my act together, and getting my bags together.
Now I just have to stock the fridge and pantry with lots of nice liquids for the first two weeks, and the freezer with food I can puree (note to self, buy new blender, lmao).
I go for my pre op tomorrow. I have no idea what to expect, really. It sould be interesting.
I am still getting over my little freak out about going under, and not waking up. That scares me still. Actually, Iam not too fond of thinking of it. I get this fluttering in the pitt of my stomach, and I just know, that if I dont think about something else right that minute, I will throw up.....
I still have a huge list of things to do before Monday of next week (I want to be finished by then)
* Wash the car
* Get all of the washing done, so Donald can just do the day to day stuff
* Get the house clean
* Stock the fridge, freezer and pantry with food for all of us
* Finish packing my bags
* Find time to fix my wireless router
* Load Mp3 player with my music for hospital
* Get a book to read when in hospital
* Buy a blender
* Write out daily instruction list for Donald (if I don't, the house will fall apart)
* Make appointment with dentist for after my op
I am sure I have missed a fair bit, but you get the idea...
On top of all that, I have opened a message board of my own, and need to keep an eye on that.
Boy am I busy, but it is a good thing. These last 2 weeks have flown by.

9 Days....
Nerves are setting in.
Last night I thought about the fact that I am going under, and may not wake up. That is pretty scary.
I have to pay the $4200 to the surgeonon Monday, and I go for the pre op on Tuesday, so pray that that goes well. It is all real now.
I wonder if I should take my lap top. Mmmmm? Will I feel well enough to use the computer? It is only key hole surgery, so I should feel pretty normal by day two.

16 days and counting
Well, I am almost two weeks away.
I have my pjs for hospital, slippers, robe that sort of stuff ready. I just have to prepare my body for the changes ahead.
Now if I could just get together to will power to stick to the Optifast, all will be well.
For some reason, I am OK through the week, but come the weekend, I am so weak, I want to eat everything in sight.
I will have to make plans to keep busy next weekend.

Still 17 days to go
What was that I was saying about being good?
Mmmmm?
Nevermind, tomorrow is another day, and in a few I will hae my last OF shake for the night, and make a huge effort to be good tonight.

17 days to go
I am dealing with the OptiFast better today. I am not as light headed, thank God.
I did have to cut my dose of Met in half, so I am sure that is helping. I am pretty sure the OptiFast has an appetite surprising in it, because I am not physicaly hungry, but my head is telling me that it is time to eat.
I have been shutting it up with cold water, lol. I have been pretty good on the OF shakes, apart from my coffee, I have only had the shakes and water (not enough water, but it is a start)
If I can keep this up, I am sure it will all go well.

18 Days to go
No, I am not counting...... Much, lol.
I am learning to live with the optifast, as horrid as it is. I have found the vanilla is better than the chocolate, not as sickly. So hopefully I will get through this. When I go to the shop later, I am going to buy some straws, see if that helps.
I must admit that I am sneaking in a coffee with skim milk and sweet and low. I cant see how it would hut that much. I hope. I will talk to the dietitan on tuesday, and she should let me know if this is ok.
The Psychologist appointment yesterday went really well. I was in and out in 20 minutes, he just asked a few simple questions, about my eating habbits, and what I feel about my body at the moment, and what I wanted my goal weight to be. If I was paying for the whole thing (the consult was $120! I will get $60 back from my health fund) I would have been pissed though.

Day 1 Optifast
This stuff tastes like crap.
It is bad. How I am going to live on it for 3 whole weeks, I will never know. But I know if I don't, I wont be allowed to have the surgery.
I still haven't told anyone outside my family (mum, mother in law, hubby) that I aside from the ladies from MV and Phat Moms. I don't think I will. The pressure of having people watch my weight loss, because they "know" would be just too hard.
I feel I have made the right choice.......
Have I?

I am having weight loss surgery. I picked the LapBand (http://www.weightlosssurgery.com.au/index.php?sec15) over gastric bypass for a number of reasons....
#1 Bypass id "open"surgery, LapBand is performed using laparoscopic or Key Hole surgery, cutting down the hospital stay.
#2 LapBand is far less invasive, you are putting a band around your stomach, not stapeling it, or cutting it up *shudder*
#3 Weight is lost slowly, so your skin has a chance to "snap" back into shape.
#4 It can be removed. Not that I am planing on having it removed, but you never know.
I went to see the surgeon today. Dr Copp, and his nurse Benita are amazing! So nice!
I got to see the band, and it is a whole lot smaller than I thought.
If you make a circle with your thumb and 4th finger, that is the size of the deflated band, and when the fluid goes in, you couldnt fit a finger in. I am really excited, and a bit scared, it is all happening so quickly. I have to go on a very low Cal drink called OptiFast, and it has about 152 cals per serve, and I have that 3 times a day, and nothing other than water, and greens. I have to go on, and stay on the shakes for the next 21 days. The reason I have to do the Optifast, is apparently the liver can be very fatty in larger people, and fatty livers bleed when they are moved (they have to lift my liver to place the band) and it only takes two to three weeks to clean the liver out. (And I hope to lose a bit of weight pre op too)
I have to see Dr Copp again this Thursday, for my pre op blood tests, and that afternoon I see the psychologist. Then tues the 8th, I see the dietitian. After that I see Dr Copp for my final pre op. I dont have the appointment for that yet, I think we wil make that one on thursday.
