And that means we only have 2 days to go to the Heritage Park Annual Rally.
What does that mean? Well. The next few day will be busy getting ready. Setting up the buses for display, fixing anything that needs fixing on the buses, printing flyers and all that sort of fun stuff.
The the weekend itself will be a blast.
Saturday we plan on getting to the Gold Coast early, and that means that I will go for my morning run at the park (I love doing that) and we will have brekky at the park, then the day will begin. We will spend the day manning the bus display on and off, and walking around taking photos of old machinery, and looking at the stalls and the other interesting stuff there is to see.
Sunday we start the day much the same, but at about 1pm we start packing up. So we pack up the stand, and start moving buses back to where they belong.
It's a busy weekend, but so much fun.

Feeling a bit better
The kid is feeling a bit better, and is back at school (he had Monday off) The husband is feeling better, and I went for a 5km on Sunday and Monday, and today I ran an 8k.
What a difference a couple of runs make to the way my brain works. I feel clear and in control of my body when I run. I am sure it has something to do with the endorphins and what they do to the brain. What they say about a runners high is so true.

You know what happens when
I don't run for a few days?
Every thing turns to shit. No I mean it.
I haven't been for a run since Thursday.
Friday morning, I picked up my new glasses. I hate them. I am going back on Monday to see if I can get an exchange or something. I am also going to try contacts. Anything has to be better than those fugly ass glasses.
Friday afternoon, I had my hair cut (for the first time since Christmas 2006) I hate it. I look like a Poodle. Enough said.
Saturday morning, DS wakes up with the worst cold. He is coughing like he will hack up a lung at any minute, and is blowing snot bubbles out of his nose. Charming. So he hasn't left the couch.
Now the husband is sick, and I have a tickle in my throat.
Now. I know that this stuff would have happened if I had run or not. But it makes me feel better that somehow, as if by magic, if I had run, I would have loved my new glasses, my hair would look fab, and we wouldn't be sick.
Oh, yeah! I forgot the best part. Friday morning, some LDS (Mormons) turned up at the door.
I as calmly as I could (after being told that their way is the *only* way, and if I chose to worship in any other way but theirs, that I will go to hell) told them that they can shake the dust from their feet if they wish, and stand in judgement of me. BUT!! No-one mortal is qualified to stand in judgement of me, and to stand in judgement of your fellow man is a sin, and if I am going to hell, I will see them there.
I believe in God. I worship. Is that not good enough? Do I have to go to their church, and tithe a massive percentage of my income to them in order to find salvation, and be touched by Gods love?
I hardly think so.

Potty for Potter
So I finally pulled my finger out of my ass and pre ordered HP for the Boy-Child.
Now, I get to spend probably the best part of my Saturday standing in line to get a book for the kid.
Would it be bad if I ducked out to grab a coffee, and left the kid standing in line? He's 10.3 years old... He could be left on his own in public for 5 minutes... Right?
Over - Protective is my middle name. I still hold his hand crossing the street, and other mothers let their kids walk to school on their own.
I have issues.

My poor car!
It must have happened in the car park when I was shopping sometime over the weekend.
No note, nothing. I just discovered it when I walked passed it this morning. On the upside, I took this shot with my new 35-80mm lens. I am in love!!

I am getting used to being wrong
So , the magazine called me first thing Friday morning because they need a full length photo. They are running the story in issue 32 (it comes out Wed 1st August) I freaked the fuck out for nothing. I am really, really good at overreacting. Very good at it. Donald kept telling me just because they ran another story on banding does not mean they won't run mine. He was right, I was wrong.
Anyway, I went out and brought a nice dress to use for the photo, and to wear out when Donald takes me out for dinner next week. Apart from being stunning, this dress was a total steal at only AU$59. I was looking at dresses 3 or 4 times what this one was worth, and this just stole my heat. And when I put it on to show Donald, his eyes lit up, and the look on his face told me that I was beautiful before he even spoke the words. So here are the three photos that I like.

I have to send the photo via email on Monday morning, so cast your vote for the pic I send in now. Because 18 or 19 hours from now is my deadline!!
Sassy; I have been praying for some peace for you. I don't know eactly what is happening, but I want you to know I have had you in my thoughts.
Jodi! A huge CONGRATULATIONS on the job, and on 71lbs gone! I am so freaking proud of you woman! I am smiling the biggest smile as I type this. So frikken proud. Way to go. Seriously.
The boy-child and I went to see Transformers on Friday night.
Oh. My. Goodness... Best. Movie. Ever!
Over 2.5 hours long, and I was transfixed the whole time. It was awesome. Boy-Child and I had the best bloody time evah! Action from start to finish, no kissy - kissy stuff (that was a bonus for DS) a fairly strong plot, cool CGI, and great direction and soundtrack made Transformers a good older kid / adult who remembers the orgional Transformers from the 80's movie.
Boy-Child and I will be dragging Donald to see it this Friday. Mostly so we can see it again, but really we are going again because DH will enjoy it too.
Nahh!! Mostly so we can see it again!

Ok.....
So maybe they are NOT going to run that story after all. They ran a story about 2 women who had lost a combined 85kg with their bands.
So I am not worth a story huh? They got me to open up about my feelings on being fat, then thin, and my tummy tuck for nothing?
I actually feel really used.
I stood in the grocery store and cried when I saw the magazine. When I saw that they ran another banding story.
Maybe this is for the best? I don't know.
One thing that confuses me, is WHY would they still be asking for photos? If they already KNEW that they had a Lap Band story for this week? Were they just trying to fuck me out of my rights to my story? The contract that I signed states that until they run their story, I cannot talk to any other magazine, or media outlet. On top of that, they don't pay me till they PRINT the story. So I sold my soul for nothing.
Nothing.
I feel so, so used.

My F&*#$@! Knee again
So, it hurts again. Despite resting it, it fucking hurts again.
Orthodics. After going to no less than 5 flipping stores, I found some in my size.
Fun with orthodics. In pictures!
The groovy, and expensive (at $40 AU) orthodics.
Take out the insole of your (rather fucking expensive - but - supposed -t0 - help - with - your- knee - issues) Nike's
Put the rather expensive for what they are orthodics in your shoe.
And there you have it!
With any sort of luck this works, and saves me from having to see a podirtist.
Oh, and it looks like that article will be out next week. They want all the photos (the extra ones they asked for) by Thursday or Friday. I think that is the deadline for the issue that comes out on Wednesday 18th.
Jodi, you will have to email me your address so I can send you a copy of the magazine when it comes out.
I think I am a little nervous about putting myself out there like that. Some of the extra photos they asked for are a wedding photo, a photo of me and DS when he was a baby, and they want a recent family shot.
I am very proud of my family, don't get me wrong. But I am a little cautious about advertising what they look like. Putting them in the public domain like that.
Maybe I am just paranoid?

You'd think I have nothing better to do than Blog, part 2
Well, today, Sunday, DH started work late, so we had the opportunity to go down to Heritage Park, where we keep some of his old (think 1940's models) for the open day (the open day is where all the people who keep their old fire trucks, buses, engines, large scale moel stem trains get together and play for the day. It really is a lot of fun)
Anyway, we spent the day at "The Park" we had a blast, as usual. I shot a roll of 35mm film that I will have to get developed. I also shot a crap load of digital shots.
DH's toys;
DS;
A pretty flower;
One of the sheds;
Another on of the sheds, near the pond;

You would think I have nothing better to do than Blog!
All the paperwork for that article got sent off on Thursday, so they would have it by now. So I kind of expect that the article will be published in either the magazine that comes out on the 21st, or the 28th.
The contract said they wanted a photographer to come out... Well, I have a husband who works all the time, and the kid goes back to school on Tuesday, so they had better be prepared to come out either early in the morning, before school or work, or later at night.
That's their problem I guess. I gave them plenty of photos that they can use if worse comes to worse.
Anyway, I will let everyone know for sure when it is going to come out.
Oh, KIRSTEN!! I need your email addy! I will let you know when the magazine come out! And I need an update on that little man of yours is! He must be getting pretty big by now.
Oh, and a photo from the other day... DS with the two cousins that came over for the night (DS in the middle)
DS figured out how to use the 10 second timer on his camera... It was so cute!

Define insanity.
3 boys under 11 years old on a sleepover.
Oy Vey! They were up till 2am, then up again at 5! Little goobers.
The boys in question are my DS and two of his cousins (ages 9 and almost 11) We went out for the day with all of his cousins and my SIL yesterday, and somehow let them talk us into taking Mr 9, and Mr 10 home with us. The stayed up all night eating crap, watching Star Wars and farting. Boy heaven.
And I guess with all the shit that went on with FIL this school holidays, DS deserved some fun.
That said, I may change my mind... I still have quite a few hours before I drop the boys home at 8pm (Its 8am now) Time will tell I guess.

Feeling better still...
I am feeling better again today!
I ran again, slowly, but I ran. My knee is still killing me, but I need to keep moving.
So THAT is why I haven't had a phone call from the photo editor, and no paperwork as yet! I got around to emailing that journo from "Take 5" magazine. She is sending out the paperwork today. Apparently she got really busy, and didn't realise that the envelope was still on her desk. The photo editor doesn't call till the paperwork has been sent back!
So that is what is happening with that.
Maybe I was just depressed the other day. I don't know. Hopefully my mood continues to improve.

What a difference a run makes
I was so depressed last night. So very depressed. Last night I iced my knee, rested it without bending (bending hurts like a mother fucker when you have runners knee)
This morning I went for a slow, slow, slow (did I mention it was slow?) run.
I ran 4km in just under 29 minutes, but I had very little pain. So the time and speed I lost were well worth it.
I have to say, I felt so good to be running again. I was *just* running, but it was a run none the less.
I am still pissed off about my ring, the magazine, and having a sore knee to start with. But the "runners high" that people talk about has mellowed me out.
Peace man.
